Our first month in 2009 has been a busy one for Riley. She is growing so much, we are amazed at all of the changes that take place in such a short amount of time. We had her 9 month check up with the doctor and she now weighs 14 lbs 13 oz and is 26 3/4 inches long, which puts her in the 3rd percentile for weight and 25th for height. I am still working on bulking her up a bit, but it seems she may just be petite.
Some important things to know about Riley at 9 months.....
- She is full on crawling and can get from place to place very quickly now, there's no putting her in one spot anymore. This has definitely necessitated baby proofing our house, but she loves this new independence.
- She has started to pull herself up to stand as you can see from her picture above. She can now peek up onto the coffee table all by herself.
- She can imitate words is especially good at "dada", "mama", "kitty" and "doggie". When we're out for a walk she says "doggie" when we hear barking.
- She gives nice wet open mouth kisses
- She loves to wave hello and goodbye
- She loves to eat and is happily trying all kinds of new fruits and veggies. She especially likes being able to feed herself some finger foods now.
- Peek-a-boo is her favorite game and just about the only thing that gets a belly laugh out of her
- She can point to things now and especially loves to point out daddy and the kitty to mommy.
Just when we think that life with Riley can't get any better it does. Her playful side is emerging and it is so much fun to watch her. I of course love to listen to her laugh and her big beautiful smile makes my day so I do just about anything to get them out of her...luckily she doesn't make us work too hard.
