Spring Fever!

Spring has arrived and it has brought some beautiful weather our way!!!  We have been soooo ready to get outside and a mid-March heat wave has given us the perfect opportunity to be out playing in the sunshine.  For Piper, it's been a bit like coming out of hibernation...being born in the winter has kept her inside and bundled, but she is loving to be out now that it's warm.  We have been enjoying walks around our lake and to the library and I also love that daylight savings has coincided with our warm up, so that Kris has been able to head to the park with us when he gets home from work.

Riley's so proud that she can now pump her legs and swing all by herself!

This past weekend, Kris' cousin Ashley and her 2 year son, Ashton, came for a visit from Georgia so we decided to take them to one of Riley Roo's favorite places...the zoo!  We had a really great time and Riley had fun meeting her new cousin.

Piper's 1st zoo day!  She loved it can't you tell?
In other news, Riley has been undergoing a little Spring transformation of her own in the form of a major growth spurt unlike any that we have ever seen from this kid.  Our little perpetual nibbler has been putting away food like no other!  It's a little like the 'Very Hungry Caterpillar'..."but he was still hungry".  The other day at Gigi's she at 2 apples, 3 pieces of string cheese and 2 bowls of oatmeal with in a couple of hours.  I cannot keep up with how quickly she is outgrowing her clothes right now, I am constantly pulling things out of her closet that don't fit anymore.  As an example of how she slowly she usually grows, she still had some 18 month and 2T stuff that she could wear...that was until a couple of weeks ago :)  She may have grown a few inches since you last saw her!

Arkansas

Last weekend, my cousin Tyler and his new bride, Valerie, celebrated their wedding in a really pretty little resort town in Arkansas, so we headed down to Eureka Springs for the big event!  This was our first time traveling with two kids and it helped that Gigi, Pop, Bunky Ry and Auntie Kelly were with us to help navigate the airport with all of our extra luggage.  Aside from the increase in baggage, it was a pretty easy trip...I think our two are at perfect ages for travel right now.
Big sis and baby sis waiting for the plane!

My little ear rubber all ready for take off!  Riley is a pro at flying and was great during our short flight.  Her favorite new game, Ono, was the perfect distraction.
Piper was pretty excited about her first plane ride too!  She nursed and then slept the whole rest of the way.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful and we had so much fun seeing our family!  This was the first time that some of our family has met Piper and we also got to meet our new cousin Nate who was born in February.
Riley was so excited to see her cousin Reece again!  They had so much fun running around with each other, swimming in the pool at the hotel and dancing!
Riley also danced with her other fave cousin, Maddie
For Miss R the 2nd best part of a wedding, aside from the ample opportunities to bust a move, is the cake!  She decided she should hang out right at the cake table so that she would be first in line.  She had a little piece of white wedding cake to tide her over until she got what she was really after...the chocolate grooms cake.
Lucky for her, Aunt Judi had also snagged her a chocolate covered strawberry too!
Piper was the perfect party guest and spent alot of time in the arms of some of her favorite people.

She also did alot of sleeping in her favorite spot
Before we left to head back home, we got to spend an afternoon with my Great Aunt Katherine and some 2nd cousins who live in Arkansas too.  It was a fantastic trip and like always when we come together with our family, we had a great time!

Piper's 3 Months Old!

Piper is 3 months old today!  We are getting to know our sweet baby girl better and better every day as she is growing, getting stronger and spending more and more time with her eyes open.  She is a happy baby when she is awake she is so alert and all too happy to give us great big grins...I think that she uses her entire face when she smiles.  We can't get enough of listening to her coo and babble at us and watching her facial expressions, she loves to raise an eyebrow at us.  She even gives a little laugh every now and then!

While she's still pretty bitty...Piper has definitely been growing!  Riley told us the other day that Piper's head is definitely getting bigger.  We're now able to dress her in some of her 0-3 month outfits along with her newborn gear.  I've been a little excited for her to finally fit into some of the bigger outfits that we bought not knowing that our baby was going to be such a little peanut.  She has also been getting stronger and much more coordinated.  She loves to kick her legs, stand up with our help and is trying very hard to roll over from her tummy to her back.  They sometimes still have a mind of their own, but Piper is pretty obsessed with her little hands and spends alot of time trying to cram fingers and even whole fists into her mouth.  When they aren't being chewed on, she also likes to watch them or keep them clasped in front of her which is pretty darn cute too!

Already we feel like we know her little personality and there are some definite differences between Piper and her very independent older sister.  Riley was an equal opportunity baby and gave pretty much everyone a chance, Piper is a total mamma's girl and doesn't really see the need to let anyone else get more than about 5 minutes to love on her.  She is still loving to be wrapped to me most days, but has also started to let me lay her down in bassinet or play mat for small bits of time while she chats with the animals that hang above her.

She loves to be smiled at and talked to and I think that she is already finds her boisterous big sis, Riley, pretty entertaining.  She also loves to be in the bath and splashes her arms and legs like crazy in the warm water.  We can't get enough of our baby girl!
