10 Months Old!

Happy 10 months to Riley! Our little one is definitely changing from a baby into a little girl and it's hard to believe how quickly she is growing up.

Riley has spent the past month perfecting her crawling and climbing skills. She can really book it on her hands and knees and no object is too large or to precarious to use to pull up standing. She is also quite good at sitting back down which makes me happy. Her most amazing feat this month was learning to climb the stairs. She can now climb our entire staircase all by herself and in usual Riley fashion...very quickly. It's so cute to watch her little body go up, up, up, but now we are working on teaching her how to safely come down, down, down.

She is also working very hard to communicate with everyone around her and loves to add inflection into her babble as if she was having a conversation with us. She also likes to gesture with her hands when she talks. Her favorite thing to show off is her waving skills and it's now how she greets us when she wakes up in the morning and fron her nap. She also loves to wave at random people in the grocery store and when we say "hi" or "bye bye".

Riley's favorite game is peek-a-boo and just about anyone can make her melt into laughter by popping out from behind their hands. She also loves to play this game with us by ducking down on the coffee table and then popping up with a great big smile or peeking out from around a corner.
Since I have been a bit behind in picture posting over the past couple of months, I thought I would end our blog with some random Rileyness so that you can see what she has been up to over the past month.

Swimming

For the past few weeks Riley and I have been going to parent-child swimming lessons at APEX, our local rec center. I figured that this would be a fun winter activity to get us out of the house and also a good way to get Riley used to the water so that when summer comes around we can spend lots of time in Gigi and Popdaddy's pool.

She is learning how to kick her legs and float on her tummy

Swim for toys floating in the water

And float on her back!

She also has a very cool post-swim mohawk

Ski Baby!

Okay, so we know that she is a bit too young for skiing yet, but never too young for a trip up to the slopes. With our 30th birthday looming just a week away, my sister in law Kelly planned a little pre 30th birthday celebration for Ryan on "the beach" at A Basin. This was Riley's first trip up to the mountains and she loved every minute of it.

This was a great place to try out her new sled and she was actually much more excited about her ride than she looks in the picture.

Gigi is sooo funny!
